Mercedes C-Class Coupé
As you might anticipate, this car is a sports version of the standard C-Class range. In appearance it is quite a lot lower than the saloon version and has a very sporty look to it which is enhanced by the elongated bonnet and the sweeping lines of the windscreen and the roof.
The price of the Mercedes C-Class Coupé is a tad on the high side, however if you are willing to peruse the used cars market you will find many excellent two and three year old models which can be had at real bargain prices for such a top end performer.
You can pick and mix your options which include a choice of five different engines three of which are petrol and two diesels. There are two 1.8 litre petrol engines with different degrees of tuning and which produce either 156 bhp or 204 bhp. If you want to go big then there is a V6 3.5 litre petrol engine which delivers 306 bhp and which will power you from rest to 62 mph in just 6 seconds. With all the petrol engines the standard gearbox is seven speeds automatic.
Both diesel options are 2.2 litre CDi, again with different degrees of tuning giving you the choice of 170 bhp or 204 bhp. The more powerful of the two will accelerate you to 62 mph from rest in 7.1 seconds.
Again as you might expect the handing of the Coupé is quite different from that of the saloon. Basically it is a lot more fun. The steering is sense sensitive which serves to put the driver in intimate touch with every nuance of the road so that you can power round bends confident that your tyres will retain good adhesion with the road surface. There is very little body roll even in tight corners and generally the handling adds a confidence boost.
There is excellent comfort all round and the car has been designed as much for the passengers as the driver. Your passengers will appreciate the firm ride that appears to even out the road surface as well as the comfortable seats and, for a Coupe, relative spaciousness, though the rear can be pretty cramped if your customers are anything above average height.
